no more access to Hyper-V machines after updating network driver

Hi there,

I'm running Windows Server 2008R2 with Hyper-V on a server (motherboard: S5000VSA, netcards: Intel Pro 1000 - 82564 Intel Controller). After updating to the newest netcard driver I'm getting 'Access denied' messages trying to start my virtual machines. I had the same problems some time ago with Windows Server 2008 on the same box, but I could solve the issue using an Intel patch, correcting those permissions. Trying to use the same patch with 2008-R2 I'm getting an error like ' patch isn't needed for R2 Version of 2008'. What can I do to get my machines running again?

Kind Regards

I found this http://blogs.southworks.net/aalvarez/2008/11/15/hyper-v-server-first-steps-and-troubleshooting/ after a quick google.

The Intel patch you got before - was it a patch for the board, the NIC, or what? There might be something similar coming if it's not one of the older components.

Thanks for your answer!

The patch I was using with Server 2008 was this one: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17188 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17188

But that isn't working for Server 2008 R2.
