s500vsa & E5405 Virtualization Support

Hi,

I have a s5000vsa motherboard, bios rev 0088 (3/14/2008), bmc ver: 0.63, hsc ver: 2.02 and SDR rev SDR package42. I have dual Xeon E5405 CPU's (SPec SLBBP) installed.

I'm attempting to setup Win2008 in a Hyper-V role, however I get a message saying that the processors do not support hardware assisted virtualization. The Intel Processor Identification Utility also tells me that the VT is not available and there are no enable/disable VT options in the BIOS. However the intel website says that VT is a supported feature of the processor http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLBBP .

I've pretty much ripped out wha little hair I had left trying to find a solution, is this just a bad combination of board & CPU or is there an answer to my hair loss.

Kind Regards

Neill
