Discontinuation of the F200

I read in the new SDK that Intel is producing a new camera to replace the F200, the SR300. Does this mean you will no longer be producing the F200? I noticed that you currently no longer have the F200s in stock. Are you planning on restocking the F200s again before the release of the SR300 in Q1 2016?

The software I am using currently only works with the F200, and will not be updated for the SR300.

Looking through the full PDF release notes for the new SDK release (which I linked to above), the workings of the F200 and SR300 do not seem to be drastically different, at least on the programming front.  So there's a good chance that the SR300 would have back-compatibility with your software made for the F200.

If you really do need another F200 right now then there's a new one on eBay for $83 being sold from a US location right now.  Put 'realsense f200' into eBay to see it.  It's far less ideal than buying from the Intel store directly but it may be your only option now.

It is very possible that the F200 will not be available in the future. It was created just for developers to create apps for it, but the idea is to use that technology embedded on laptops, so the USB camera probably will be discontinued.

You will be able to just buy the new SR300 and use it as an F200:

The Intel® RealSense™ Depth Camera Manager (DCM) implements a F200 compatibility mode to smooth the transition to camera model SR300. In the F200 compatibility mode, the DCM emulates the F200 behaviors (including the device information, stream configurations, sensor response, and device properties etc) so that existing SDK applications can work seamlessly on camera model SR300.

But make sure that you keep a copy of the previous SDK to compile your apps:

A streaming request coming from any application compiled with SDK R5 2015 or later (or the post-R5 application) deactivates the F200 compatibility mode. The application works directly with the SR300 features.

You can read more about it here:
