How to get data from RealSense without SDK

I'm using Ubuntu OS and opencv libraries. I think SDK will not work on this OS. So I would like to get RealSense data by my own code. I would like to get image data and depth data. In my opinion, this will work, however, I have no idea how to code. Please someone help me, thank you very much.

note: I'm working on a binocular vision  project, if anyone is interested in it, I'm glad to have a discuss.

The RealSense is for Windows only.

Have a look at ROS since there is a RealSense node for it.
