We just bought Compaq Visual Fortran.
However during installation we got a problem.
In the installation guide chapter 5.1 row 4-5 it says that the server MUST be running on a Windows machine. This sounds really odd to us because:
1. Compaq is (used to be) a major unix vendor.
2. we and many others are running licenseservers (e.g. FLEXl) on Unix systems.
We would like to run FLEXlm on unix for our 5 concurrent licenses for Compaq Visual Fortran. Is this possible ? Any dirty workarounds ?
Any suggestion welcome.

This will work if you can get a Compaq vendor "daemon" which runs on the UNIX system. I have one for Tru64 UNIX, but it requires a relatively recent version. We aren't licensed to produce daemons for non-Compaq UNIX operating systems (we pay per platform for the FLEXlm license.) If you're running Tru64 UNIX, you're welcome to try the daemon we have - get it here.
I'm working on getting a daemon that runs on 4.0d or later of Tru64 UNIX.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.
We tried to use the daemons but unfortunately we received the following error:
> ./Compaq
19644:./Compaq: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in ./Compaq: bo3gU6
19644:./Compaq: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in ./Compaq: pg4_cX
19644:./Compaq: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in ./Compaq: lRrhi4
19644:./Compaq: /sbin/loader: Fatal Error: this executable has unresolvable symbols
The reason is that we are using 4.0f.
You mentioned that you are working on a daemon for 4.0d and later. We would be
very interested in using this version once you release it.
Best Regards,
Mathias

Mathias,,
Let's try this one. Compaq-FLEXlm-daemon-40.gz. (If the file isn't there, try again a few hours later.) gunzip as before. Let me know how it works for you.
