As an owner of the G965 express chipset, I find it very concerning that Intel has not utilized many of the features that they had intended to provide us. More specifically, I am talking about the GMAx3000's so-called "TnL Support." How many of you read that in the white spec sheet and then wondered why all of your programs have denied you usage, saying "no TnL or Vertex Shader support detected" or something along those lines. This thread is to take a stand. Not a stand just to bash Intel for disappointing us time and time again, but rather to take a stand and go on the offensive. To succeed where Intel has failed. I believe that the Intel community is stronger united than Intel itself, and that if we stick our ideas together, we can accomplish great feats that Intel could possibly learn from.
So to sum up what I the purpose of this thread is, is to aid in graphical problems, especially with those owners who have chipsets that don't support hardware or software TnL or Vertex Shading. This is in essence an unOfficial Troubleshooter.
If you are having problems with conflicts in programs and incompatible software because of your Intel Chipset:
1) Try downloading the latest drivers from
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intelg965/
2) If this does not solve your problem, try the latest beta drivers. They are under the beta driver page of the download section. As of right now, they are only compatible with XP, but new Vista drivers should come out in the soming weeks.
3) This is a backup plan, that should not be your main course of action but rather a temporary aid. Use this 3DFX emulator (which is completely legal btw) to create artificial TnL and Vertex Shading, and can evenemulate DirectX 9.0c.

If you have any other suggestions or question, do not hesitate to state them, as there will always be someone here to assist you.

The X3000/X3100's drivers have support hardware Transform & Lighting and Vertex Shaders ever since the 14.31 drivers(for XP)/15.6 drivers(for Vista)back in August.
The reason apps like 3DMark and Everest show no hardware support is because the driver purposely sets it to be software mode for those specific apps. The driver installs a registry code that puts certain applications and games to be running on software. So its running on forced software T&L/VS mode. Do not be concerned if you have installed drivers 14.31(XP)/15.6(Vista) or later.
Also, technically, GMA X3000/X3100 architecture doesn't have hardware T&L, because hardware T&L is an obsolete fixed function hardware that's made back in the Geforce 1/2/3 days. The GMA X3000/X3100 has unified shaders to do old hardware T&Loperations. One reason old games run slow could be because Intel still has trouble making hardware T&L run on the unified shaders properly.
