Uninstall fails - another instance has been detected

Hello,

I have several out-of-date versions of Parallel Studio that I am trying to uninstall, but keep getting the message "Another instance of setup has been detected.  Please complete the other install and try again." How do I abort this background install so that I can remove the out-of-date versions?

I am running Windows 10, uninstalling from the control panel programs and features and restarting has not helped.

Hi Feilong H,

These are the versions of Parallel Studio that I am trying to remove (I have installed 2016 Update 1):

Composer Edition 2013 SP1 Update 4 for Windows 2013_sp1.4.237

Composer Edition 2013 SP1 Update 5 for windows 2013_sp1.5.239

Parallel Studio XE 2015 Composer Edition 2015.0.0.108

Parallel Studio XE 2015 Professional Edition 2015.0.0.020

Parallel Studio XE 2015 Update 2 2015.0.2.030

Parallel Studio XE 2015 Update 2 Composer Edition 2015.0.2.179

Parallel Studio XE 2015 Update 4 Composer Edition 2015.0.4.221 appears twice under programs and features

The following tasks appear in the task manager:

Intel Capability Licensing Service Interface

Intel Local Management Service (32 bit)

Parallel Studio XE 2015 Update 6 Composer Edition for Fortran and C++ Windows (32 bit)

Parallel Studio XE 2015 Update 6 for Windows* (32 bit)

Intel Software Manager  (32 bit)

Intel Software Setup Assistant (32 bit)

Intel Software Setup Assistant (32 bit)

I recently tried to update a few of these using the software manager and failed at the end of downloading.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

A developer in installation team is looking at this issue.  He asked me to collect more information:

1. steps of uninstallation

2. were you removing from Add/remove programs or using existing installer?

3. I'm assuming that you were removing the products one by one, instead of doing that simultaneously.  Please kindly confirm.

4. Did you succeed in removing any of the installed products or not?

Thank you in advance.
