What does processor do in each pipeline stage ?

I am interesed in anaylysis the pipeling of assembly language .
Now I lack datas for quantitive analysis ,I can't fnd resources about what does the processor do in each stages?

Any reply is appreciated.

I've moved this post from its original location (Intel GPA) to here, so that you'll have more people responding to this post than you would in the other forum.

However, note that you need to know which specific computer system you are interested in, as each system will potentially have a different pipeline.

For Intel's Sandy Bridge, here's a couple of links to get you going:

You might also want to use your favorite search engine, and look for "Sandy Bridge pipeline architecture", or "...micro-architecture", or something like this.
