Difficult to figure out which drivers you have... I think the TZ27 is the GMA 950... Can you go into the Intel Graphics Tray, click on the Information button, and then click Save to Disk and post the saved file here?

Thanks. That helps. Sony likely has their own special,"approved and validated by Sony"configuration of the Intel drivers, and therefore the latest Intel ones won't load on your machine.

It's okay. It looks like you have something relatively recent.

I'd grab DTDCalc and go to the "Reverse Calculation" tab. Insert

28 3C 80 A0 70 B0 23 40 30 20 36 00 07 44 21 00 00 1A

into the frame there, hit "Reverse Calculate", and then proceed to the "Registry Hack" tab and Get Calculatednext to one of the DTD entries (if there are none, click "More" to create one) and Write DTDs toRegistry.

Reboot and you should have 1920x1200 as a selectable resolution. If not, it's possible Sony has specifically disabled 1920x1200 in the BIOS. Get around this by using

28 3C 7E A2 70 B0 23 40 32 20 36 00 07 44 21 00 00 1A

which is 1918x1200 and shouldn't be disabled.

Nice!
its working at 1918x1200 now.
looks like sony did disable 1920x1200 on purpose

will it affect the laptop or the monitor by using 1918x1200?

As long as you don't mind not seeing two pixels on each line, there should be no other effects.

I'm having a similar problem. I have a Sony VGN-TX670P, with an Intel 915GM, and I'm trying to export 1920x1200 to a Dell 2408. The link earlier in the thread to DCDCalc isn't working for me. Can you help? Here's the report:

Those drivers are too old to work with DTDCalc-- the ability to add a custom resolution didn't show up until 14.25.50.4764-- which is, I believe, the final XP driver for 915G, in any case.

If you can upgrade to that set of drivers you can then apply the DTDCalc fix to your PC to get a custom resolution.

(I fixed the DTDCalc link... it had been stripped of the site address, for some reason).

Aaron,

Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm glad to hear the problem is the driver, not the hardware. Do you know where I can download the driver I need? I tried to download updates off the Intel site, but I don't think I'm where I need to be. Here is the info, after my last update (It looks like the driver version changed):

After seeing your email that 4764 should work with DTDCalc, I downloaded it and tried to run it. However, I got the following error: "To run this application, you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: v2.0.50727. Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .NET Framework." What now?

Thanks, again, for your help,
Vic

Excellent! DTDCalc is running now. Should I also use 28 3C 7E A2 70 B0 23 40 32 20 36 00 07 44 21 00 00 1A

with DTDCalc or do I need use something else since I don't have precisely the same computer as the guy you were helping earlier in the post?

DTD settings are monitor-dependent, not driver or chipset, so that one should be fine for the Dell monitor you guys have been discussing.
