Cannot Create RAID volume using Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management software

I am having an issue with my 24H2 Windows 11 reinstall, in that if I set the BIOS to RAID (whether I create the RAID in the BIOS or not), I am unable to see any disks on my system (I have disconnected all but the two SATA SSDs I want to set up for the OS RAID1) when I get to the place in the (old) Windows install utility where I decide where to install Windows.  The 'new' install utility doesn't work at all and locks up when it looks for disks, regardless of the BOIS setting.   have tried multiple versions of the Optane management software, including the version that originally came with my mobo, but any version I try inevitably locks up the utility when it tries to install it.  The only way I can see the drives is to select AHCI and install to a single disk.  Disabling Secure Boot has no effect either way.  Once I have installed Windows to a single disk, I am not able to create a RAID in the software as that option is not active.  If I change the BIOS to 'RAID (Optane)' after installing I am unable to boot as the boot menu does not see any disks.  This all worked properly previously; just before I reinstalled, I had upgraded the drives from 1TB to 2TB drives because of an issue I was having that was similar to a drive failure I had experienced previously.  That went fine but the issue remained, so I decided to recover the system but I had issues with both my Recovery USB drive as well as the Recovery partition, so rebuild it was.  Honestly, I'm stumped and looking for ideas.  Thanks in advance!

Hi g_pan,

Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum. To assist us in investigating the issue, please provide the following details:

  • Is this working before?
  • Have you checked the health and connectivity of the SSDs using diagnostic tools?
  • Are there any specific RAID settings or configurations in the BIOS that might need adjustment beyond simply selecting RAID mode?
  • Did you encounter any error messages or issues when trying to load these drivers?
  • Does the installation media work correctly on another system or with different BIOS settings?
  • Are there any specific error messages or logs generated when the software locks up?
  • Have you tried updating the BIOS version?
  • Have you tried updating the RAID drivers?

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Best regards,

Archie, thank you for your reply; sorry for not replying sooner.  What ended up resolving my issue was to install the drivers directly from the install DVD that came with my AsRock Z590 Pro4 motherboard.  For some reason that worked when nothing else did.  I used the latest drivers for my mobo from AsRock but they didn't work.  I tried the latest Intel drivers but same result.  I still haven't installed the Optane management software yet but the RAIDs are all working.  Thanks again for the response!
