I'm trying to post in "Rapid Storage Tecnology", and keep getting responses of "You can't add new topics, so select existing topics for your post".

I've tried six times now and it keeps failing, but I was able to post this question here :-(

Hello patman,

Thank you for posting on the Intel ® communities.

First, I would like to let you know that I am uncertain as to why you are having this error; however, I have moved this thread to the appropriate support topic. Now, I would like to know how I can assist you, what issue are you facing or what assistance do you require with Intel ® Rapid Storage Technology?

Let me know so I can assist you.

My question is:

Does the ESRT2 (megasr) kernel driver version 18.02.2019.0304 support RHEL 7.7 and implicitly CentOS 7.7?

And what ESRT2 megasr kernel driver version supports RHEL 8 and CentOS 8?

Thanks ...

Hello patman,

Thank you for your response.

To confirm and provide you the most accurate response, can you please provide me with the model of Intel product you have? I believe you have a server correct? If so, please provide me with the model.

We have three models that use Intel motherboards and CPUs that use the megasr driver and ESRT2:

Motherboard CPU

S2600WT2R 2 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v4 @ 2.20GHz

S2600WTT 2 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v4 @ 2.40GHz

S2600WTTR 2 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2697 v4 @ 2.30GHz

Hello patman,

Currently, the ESRT2 (megasr) kernel driver version 18.02.2019.0304 does not support for RHEL 7.7, 7.7 or RHEL 8 and CentOS 8.

You can confirm this information here:

https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27132/eng/ESRT2_Linux_DRV_v18.01.2017.0105_Readme.txt

It currently only supports Red Hat Linux* and SUSE Linux* only.

We're trying to move to 7.7 now.

When will you have a megasr driver that supports RHEL 7.7?

And when will you have one for RHEL 8?

Thanks ...

Hello patman,

RHEL 8 validation is not completed yet, but this should happen in 2020. Our recommendation in the meantime is to use a tested distribution version.

RHEL does have compatibility and stress testing; however, CentOS does not as it is basic installation only.
