Install VROC 8.0.0.4035 on Win Server 2019 Std / 741er Chipset fails

Hi,

I'm trying to install VROC 8.0.0.4035 on a Win Server 2019 Standard based on a 741er Chipset with Gen4 Xenon. The installation aborts with the message that the operating system is not supported.

At the moment I have no real idea where to look to correct the problem.

ps.: VROC 7.8 installed without problem.

Hi,

Board is:

Supermicro X13SEM-F with VROC Premium  dongle

SDDs NVMe:
2x WD Red SN700 NVMe SSD 1 TB
2x WD Red SN700 NVMe SSD 512 MB
3x Samsung 980 Pro 2TB

SSDs SATA:
3x Samsung 950 Pro 4TB
3x Intel SSDSC2kB01917 2TB

But the V8 install allready failed with non SSDs connected to the onboard SATA or NVMe connectors (only to an adaptec raid card). As allready stated, the V7.8 install worked.

Again,

the requiremements for the chipset, the CPU and the Operating System check out to allow the  install of V8. The error occures even when no drive is connected. The reported error is that the Operating System (Windows Server 2019 Standard) is not compatibel. Which it is supposed to be. So I assume that something during the install information gathering process must go wrong.

And the above Version of V8 is the only one, that is distributed by Supermicro with the mentioned board and the only one ditributed bei intel directly. Both show the exact same error.

Hi Sol5,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community.

Please find the below details for the issue reported.

Please note VROC 8.x installer is different from the VROC 7.x installer.

It's recommended to the check and make sure the requirements are met before installation.

The requirements are documented in the User Guide for Windows ( https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000094004/memory-and-storage/datacenter-storage-solutions.html ) – section 6.2.1.

Since this is a Supermicro platform, we request to check with OEM to make sure all the dependencies are addressed.

Also since, VROC is a platform dependent product, we request to check with OEM specially when upgrading the VROC version to a newer one (VROC 7.x to VROC 8.x).

Also, if you are still using a VROC Pre-OS version 7.x, you can continue using the VROC 7.x application.

Or alternatively, try to also upgrade the Pre-OS to VROC 8.x and for this, we request to check with OEM too.

Newer VROC versions are backwards compatible, but it's preferable to use the same versions in the pre-OS as well as in the OS.

Would anyone please mind to at least once read and try to understanmd my text? Thank you!

The installer fails with the report that the operation system does not match the requirements - it fails with that specific error message.

As I'm installing on a Windows Server 2019 Standard this szenario should be supported. I attached the install log so someone with knowlege of the installer packaging might look into the problem,  so that the error can be fixed in future installer versions - what ever the error might be.

The install of V8 allready failed as no V7.8 was installed.

Contacting Supermicro will not add anything, as they are only repackaging your installer. In the end this needs to be fixed on intels side.

Regards, Lars
