Intel VROC scheduler page missing

Dear all,

I'm running an Asus Server Board (P11C-I) + XEON E-2246G ,

using a RAID1 config through the onboard Intel VROC function,

OS is Windows Server 2022, fully updated.

I'm missing the scheduler page to run regular "verify and repair" tasks (mdc).

This function is described in the VROC manual,

Revision 018,

November 2023,

document name "338065-018",

page 39.

I've tried the following software versions:

.7.8.0.1031

.7.7.0.1273

.7.6.0.1023

.6.3.0.1031

none is showing the scheduler page.

I'm running the standard utility. I have not installed the appX version.

Please let me know, how to access the scheduler page or

which driver versions supports the scheduler page.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Hello J4w,

Greetings!

Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) User Guide for Windows*

Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) is an enterprise RAID solution that unleashes the performance of NVMe* SSDs. Intel® VROC is enabled by a feature in Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors called Intel® Volume Management Device (Intel® VMD), an integrated controller inside the CPU PCIe root complex. NVMe SSDs are directly connected to the CPU, allowing the full performance potential of fast storage devices to be realized. Intel® VROC enables these benefits without the complexity, cost, and power consumption of traditional hardware RAID host bus adapter (HBA) cards placed between the drives and the CPU.

Dear Vijay,

thank you for taking the time to reply.

This is exactly the PDF I'm talking about.

My problem is, I'm missing functionality in my software suite, which is described in the referenced manual on page 39.

Please take a look at my post again, especially the pictures an then take a look at the reference you have provided:

How can I access the "scheduler" page, mentioned on page 39

or

which driver versions supports the scheduler page.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Hello Mitarbeiter,

Greetings for the day!

This user guide describes the generic features and functionality of Intel® VROC. Please note that system vendors may customize the Intel® VROC package for their specific platforms. We recommend referencing your OEM for a full list of available feature sets. In case of any conflicts between the information provided in this document and the support information provided by the platform OEM, the platform documentation and configurations take precedence.

For drivers related to OEM boards, please contact ASUS.

Regards,

Vijay N.

Dear Vijay,

do I understand correctly:

the scheduler is a a feature which can be enabled or even disabled by OEMs and NOT a basic functionality of the VROC platform?

The scheduler is used to plan MDC (make data consistent),

which is a necessary task to run on all kind of RAID configurations.

Cheers

Hello,

Greetings!

Please disregard the previous post. The VROC Scheduler is an option available in the VROC GUI for VROC 8.x. You are not seeing the scheduler because you are using an older VROC GUI (6.x or 7.x). Our User Guide for VROC is for VROC 8.x.

Hi Vijay,

thank you.

Will it support C242 Chipset?

Intel mentions this in the specs:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/147324/intel-c242-chipset/specifications.html

Here it was called

Intel RSTe, which then turned to VROC.

Hi Azeem and Vijay,

thank you for holding on to this.

Thanks to the provided Intel PDF I was able to find drivers version 8.5.0.1592 on the internet.

I will test them during this week and get back to you with the results.

I could not find this driver version on the Intel Support/Download page.

Do know, if and where Intel is offering driver version 8.5.0.1592 officially?

Cheers

Dear Vijay,

I have to ask for your patience.

I think next week I'll find time to test Version 8.5.

Meanwhile I want to ask again:
