I take a look in Bios about the use of Raid ssds, and there i read cpu 0 and vmd 0. It looks the driver cant catch the cpu and nvm???

I use a Asus Prime X299-A with a Intel Core I9 7900X Cpu.

Intel SSD 660p and Intel SSD 665p.

Hello JLustig

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. Since this is an SSD/RAID related question, it should be posted here:

We will move the thread to the correct forum.

Hello, JLustig.

Greetings from; Intel® Memory and Storage support.

As we understand, you needed assistance with your Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) in your third-party system. If we inferred correctly and based on the information you provided.

We advise you to review the following information and recommendations:

1- We advise you to contact your Motherboard OEM (original equipment manufacturer) to get further assistance regarding the compatibility and configuration of your Motherboard BIOS and Expansion card to get the best possible performance on your PC.

2- The OEM creates and modifies their solutions to fit their needs, and they have their list of compatible hardware and software that sometimes is different from our list. For example, there are cases that some of the systems that need a specific BIOS configuration or software to be able to work with and specific OS, add-on hardware, or feature.

3- Since you have an X299 chipset in your motherboard please read the following:

Intel® VROC is targeted as an enterprise product, mainly for Servers and Workstations. Also, per the details found in the article “Intel® VROC Support on X299 FAQ”, Intel® VROC was enabled on X299 client platforms (see below). This initial decision was made at the time of launch in 2017. Since then, it has become apparent that Intel® RST (and not Intel® VROC) is the better product to support SSD RAID on X299 platforms, partly because of Intel® RST availability, broad SSD support, and no need for an extra HW key. Intel® RST is free and it supports Intel® as well as NON-Intel® storage devices.

Intel® VROC will continue to have its HW Key licensing policies, which are more in line with enterprise product expectations. From the above explanation, we hope it’s clear that for X299 / client platforms, our customers do NOT require purchasing Intel® VROC key for RAID 0 (even with NON-Intel® drives). Please use Intel® RST instead of Intel® VROC for RAID 0 and other things.

For more detail, please review the following document:

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/memory-and-storage/ssd-software/VROC_Support_on_X299_FAQ.pdf

4- The Intel® SSD 660p Series and the Intel® SSD 665p Series are not a supported, validated, or recommended hardware to use with VROC.

We do not recommend or support the usage of any SSDs or hardware that are not listed in the Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) Supported Configurations article:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000030310/memory-and-storage/ssd-software.html

We will follow up with you again on Monday, the 17th of May 2021, if we do not receive an answer from you. Please let me know if you would like to schedule a different date for the follow-up.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,

Hello, JLustig.

Thank you for your reply. We understand how frustrating this may be for you.

Based on your current configuration and hardware, the best option is to use the Intel® RST (and not Intel® VROC) to set up your RAID solution and to avoid any issue or even data loss by using an unsupported configuration.

Take into consideration that the usage of the Intel® SSD 660p Series and the Intel® SSD 665p Series on a VROC configuration is not supported and can cause your SSDs to present performance or unknown issues.

We strongly advise you to contact your OEM to check the BIOS settings and requirements for your expansion card to get the best performance of your current hardware with the Intel® RST solution.

Due to your current configuration not being supported, validated, or recommended by Intel®, we would proceed to close this thread.

If you need assistance related to the Intel® RST, please do not hesitate to contact us back by opening a new thread on the following community https://community.intel.com/t5/Rapid-Storage-Technology/bd-p/rapid-storage-technology by submitting a new question.

We will no longer monitor this thread.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
