Hello,
My Porsche Design book one notebook has an Intel hard drive installed. The SSD is in poor condition. It has two partitions (system, data).
I can still read both partitions and was able to back up the most recent data.
I want to securely delete the business data. However, the drive is write-protected, so I can neither delete files nor change partitions. Disk management and all common partition software programs did not provide a solution. As a result, Windows could not be reinstalled either.
An error message is: CRC error.
I have not found any way to reset the SSD to factory settings in the BIOS.
ChrystalDiskInfo outputs the following:

I haven't found a solution to this in a Windows forum and am now hoping that the Intel experts can answer the following question:
Is there a way to remove the write protection from a defective but still accessible Intel SSD in order to securely delete the data?
I am very grateful for any help.

Hi PetStr,
Thank you for contacting Intel.
Based on the information you provided about the SSD (Intel SSDPEKKW512G7), we have identified it as an Intel® Solid State Drive from the 600p Series.
Intel®’s NAND Solid State Drive business was acquired by SK Hynix in November of 2020 and is now Solidigm™. Starting on October 1, 2022, all Technical and Warranty Support for NAND SSD products is provided directly by Solidigm™. Your existing open cases will be closed by Intel Customer Support and transitioned to Solidigm Support to re-open.

Since it's an obvious goner anyways, I should just destroy it. There are three large flash ICs as well as the SMI controller. Simply drive a nail through each of these 4 ICs and then you'll be good to recycle it.
Just saying,

You don't want to open the notebook? I thought your goal was to replace this drive with another so you can continue to use this laptop. Removing the back of the laptop is a simple task, as is the removal/replacement of M.2 SSDs. If you are afraid to take on a task such as this, a local computer shop would do it for a pittance if getting the sale of the replacement SSD. If you are worried about your warranty, well, you are long, long past that being a concern.
