Hello yh_yong,
Intel SD Host Controller, this controller manages SD cards and similar storage devices. However, its support for firmware upgrades on eMMC devices can be limited. Intel SD host controllers typically do not support firmware upgrades for eMMC devices directly.
You might need to use a different approach or tool specifically designed for eMMC firmware updates. Check with your laptop manufacturer (Dell) for any recommended tools or firmware update procedures.
Reach out to Dell support for guidance on updating the firmware of your eMMC storage device. They might have specific tools or procedures for this task.

Hi @RandyT_Intel ,
According Microsoft documentation, developers are able to send storage cmd (cmd defined in eMMC Spec) by using this control code IOCTL_SFFDISK_DEVICE_COMMAND.
Do Intel SD Host Controller support this control code ?
If yes, are all the storage cmd support ?
Appreciate your support.

Hello yh_yong,
I apologize for the delayed response. I wanted to ensure I provided you with accurate information and have been coordinating with our team.
Based on the data I have gathered; Intel SD Host Controllers do support the IOCTL_SFFDISK_DEVICE_COMMAND control code. However, not all storage commands defined in the eMMC Spec may be supported. For a detailed list of supported commands, please refer to the specific controller specifications.
I will get back to you once I have a more thorough analysis from our team or any concrete information related to your inquiry. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
