310 Series SSD

Does it have an I/O controller that would enable it to be used in a notebook's mini pci-e slot?

Can I use the 310 series SSD in my laptop (MSI GX740)? Does it work in standard mini-PCIe slots, found in most laptops, or does it work only in netbooks?

The miniPCIe slot is a standard so it will work in any.

mini pci-e is a standard, but the 310 is not standard mini pci-e. it's really sata over mini pci-e (sometimes called msata), which is a modified version of mini pci-e that allows the sata signals to pass straight through. only notebooks/netbooks with this 'msata' slot will work with the 310 and other msata ssd's, even though the drives will physically plug into any mini pci-e slot.
