Any ideas why laptop hangs with X25-M gen2 drive?

Hi there,

I've just got a brand new X25-M gen2 drive (SSDAS2MH160G201) and when I install it in the internal hard drive slot in my Toshiba Tecra A8 (model PTA83A-04G012), it fails to boot. I can't even get into the BIOS and don't see any of the usual BIOS boot messages. I've upgrade to the latest BIOS from the Toshiba Australia website (version: 3.40). It still fails to boot.

The drive, however, is not defective, because I can access it fine from the same laptop using an external USB/SATA converter (which is how I transferred my system drive to it using Acronis True Image).

I've used other types of SATA drives successfully in this laptop, including 320 GB WD drives and other brands of SSD drives.

I'd like to use the Intel X25-M SSD Gen2 drive via the internal laptop port.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Tom
