Does the Intel 750 Series use any kind of on board data compression?

Some or all of the 5xx models did, and write performance is still available for them in http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/sb/CS-034537.htm Intel® High Performance Solid-State Drives — What Is the Difference Between Controllers With or Without Compression Func…

Since numbers are not reported for compressible vs. incompressible for the 750 does that mean it does NOT compress data written to the units?

Thanks!

Hello MikeMediaCy,

The http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-specifications/ssd-750-spec.pdf Intel® SSD 750 Series Product Specification mention that "Performance specifications apply to both compressible and incompressible data".

These drives are part of a new generation of SSD's (PCIe NVMe), so they are different from the Intel® SSD 5xx series in many aspects.

We will check further about the Data compression capabilities of the Intel® SSD 750 Series and will provide additional information soon.

Here is some additional information about this:

Data compression is not used in the Intel® SSD 750 Series as it was with previous generation SSD's (Intel® SSD 3xx and 5xx Series).

The 750 Series are PCIe, NVMe drives, they use newer hardware components and technologies to achieve optimal results. So the expected performance is the same for both compressible and incompressible data.
