Does the SSD 750 series is compatible with C612 chipset ?

I recently bought a Dell T7810 workstation with 2 xeon E5-2690v3 cpu. I want to put a very fast SSD like the Intel 750 series on this system that is having an Intel C612 chipset. It is compatible with the X99 chipset but what about the C612 that is a very similar chipset than the X99 ? Will there be a driver soon to support the C612 chipset ? Will there be a product similar in performance compatible to the C612 chipset ? Any product suggestion ?

Hello BuGGzzZZ,

The http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-specifications/ssd-750-spec.pdf Intel® SSD 750 Series is a high performance SSD, designed for PC enthusiast and workstation systems.

This drive does not require a specific chipset, however, it has some requirements that are normally available in systems with a newer chipset.

We strongly advise you to check with the computer manufacturer to validate your system meets the requirements, and if there are any compatibility implications.

- PCIe* Gen3 x4 compatible connector (SFF-8639 or HHHL x4).

- UEFI* 2.3.1 or later

- Windows* 7, 8 or 8.1.

We would like to mention that the Intel® SSD 750 Series is considered a high performance consumer product.

If you plan to use your workstation with a data center/server workload, or using a server OS version; you might want to consider a Data Center SSD, such as the http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-specifications/ssd-dc-p3500-seri... Intel® SSD DC P3500 Series, http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-specifications/ssd-dc-p3600-spec... Intel® SSD DC P3600 Series or http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-specifications/ssd-dc-p3700-spec... Intel® SSD DC P3700 Series.

Data Center SSDs have enhanced performance, endurance and data protection that make them optimal for Enterprise systems.

There are some documents and validated combinations about Intel Data Center SSDs for Dell* Servers in the following link:

I just got off the phone with SuperMicro and they say they have not tested the PCIe SSDs with any of their C612 based motherboards although they meet all the specifications listed by jonathan_intel.

I bought asus Z10PE-D16WS motherboard and try to install 750 ssd and i couldn´t boot from the drive on windows 7. windows 8 and windows 8.1. It seems the bios from the motherboard doesnt reconize intel 750 as a boot drive. Its is weird because it has all the requirements and the new version of the bios says it suports NVME drives....If someone could help I am in doubt if i shall return the product from the store that i bought or try a support.....

Hello Leonardo_graca,

The Intel® SSD 750 Series is a PCIe NVMe device. Booting from it requires uEFI, 64bit OS and NVMe driver.

In this link, you will find the list of compatible motherboards that will work with the Intel® SSD 750 Series: http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/ssd-750/sb/CS-035484.htm Intel® SSD 750 Series — Tested Motherboards
