Firmware update on MacBook Pro?

Is it possible/safe to run the firmware update on a MacBook Pro, or do I need to move my 160GB G2 to my desktop?

It's an Nvidia chipset unibody if that make any difference

Chop69,

I have 17 inch unibody macbook pro(2009) and had no problems updating. Burn the ISO file and boot from CD and it should boot to the firmware updater program which will prompt you through the udpate process.

I'll give it a try, thanks

The update is perfectly fine, however I experience below average benchmark speeds:

I don't know if it's always this slow since I never ran the macbook with the older firmware revisions before.

I have also faced a lot of issues with the Firmware on my MacBook pro, but I failed. So, I updated the system, but after the update, my macbook pro won't turn on black screen. How can I fix the issue?
