How do I safely replace an SSD and add a second one for extra storage?

Jump to solution

I purchased a 480GB SSD and a 2TB SSD and I now need help replacing my current main SSD with a new one AND adding a second one for additional storage.

I would like to transfer ONLY my current OS onto the 480GB SSD and use the 2TB SSD for extra storage for my games, music, etc.

Is there a way to make a clone of ONLY my current OS and transfer that to the 480GB SSD, and make a clone of ONLY the programs, apps etc currently installed on my system and transfer that to the 2TB SS?

If there isn't a way to transfer over only my OS and only my programs, how do I go about cloning/transferring my entire to my new SSD?

The reason I'm replacing my current SSD is because I keep receiving the message: "SATA SSD" on Controller 0, Port 5: At Risk (SMART event)".

Are these Intel ssds? Provide model numbers.

What is your hardware configuration?

What operating system AND VERSION?

What is your processor model number?

What is your motherboard model number?
