I am interested inbuilding a server based on the Optane SSD. Is it possible?

Jump to solution

The Optane SSD 900P being the fatest drives according to my research, does Intel make a product I can buy and install in a server to use it for the OS (Windows 2019 server)

Hi CKoze,

Thank you for posting in the Intel® communities.

I understand you are looking for a drive where you can install your OS in a server environment.

The recommended drives for this kind of usage (server environments) are the Data Center drives which are available here: https://ark.intel.com/#@DataCenterSSDs

The Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P Series is not a Data Center drive, so we don’t recommend the use of this drive in an environment like the one you describe.

If you are looking for a drive with the Optane™ technology, then I recommend you to take a look at the Intel® Optane® SSD DC P4800X Series which is a Data Center drive and may be a better option for your needs: https://ark.intel.com/products/series/97160/Intel-Optane-SSD-DC-P4800X-Series

I hope you find this information helpful.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Have a nice day.

Diego,

Too bad there is such a price difference between the two.

Thank you for your clarification.
