Intel 750 Intermittent Failure

I have two 2.5" 750's installed in PCIe x16 slots using adapters. One in slot 3 and the second in either slot 4 or 2 (I have tried both). The second drive intermittently fails to be detected in BIOS and Windows. Right now both drives are active but more often the second drive will not be recognized. When the second drive is active it behaves normally. I have changed power connections and switched power connections with the first drive. The firmware is current and I believe the drivers are also current.

Any guidance on where my problem is would be appreciated.

Thank you,

J.

Hello Easyspeek,

We understand you have 2 Intel® Solid State Drives 750 and the second drive keeps failing to be detected randomly.

Can you please let us know the adapter you are using to connect these drives?

According to the firmware version of the SSDs, could you double check since the latest firmware version should be: 8EV10174?

The driver we recommend is the one in our website, could you confirm you are using the driver in this https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26167/Intel-SSD-Data-Center-Family-for-NVMe-Drivers link?

We will be checking this case, but if in the meantime you can confirm the information above it will be highly appreciate it.

Regards,

Thank you for you reply. Yes I have confirmed that I am running the latest firmware version and I am also running the current driver. Here is the amazon description of the adapter I am using for both of the 750's (MF-PE131 (PCIe 3.0 to PCIe-NVMe 2.5'' U.2 SSD), https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=MF-PE131+%28PCIe+3.0+t... https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=MF-PE131+%28PCIe+3.0+t... %27+U.2+SSD%29

Hello Easyspeek,

Thanks for replying back.

After checking the adapter, we realized this one is not supported by Intel; however, it will allow you to detect the SSDs.

We do recommend to use the cable in this http://click.intel.com/sff-pcle-ssd-cable.html link or you may want to check more specs in this http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/solid-state-drives/consumer-ssds/000005797.html link.

Let us know if you require any more assistance.
