Intel ICH10 Southbridge Chip and SSDs Rock! For the time being at least, read all about it: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=413&Itemid=38&limit=1&limitsta... http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=413&Itemid=38&limit=1&limitsta...

Didn't know about the ICH10 using portion of system memory to create virtual ram drive buffer.

Its hard to take a "tech site's" conclusions seriously when they so egregiously and liberally interchange B(yte) and b(it). And please don't take me for a pedant that relishes in finding such discrepancies, this is about as bad as it gets when it comes to tech journal snafus especially in this case where the difference between Byte and bit is absolutely integral to the discussion.

Tech sites are supposed to be the gate-keepers and uphold such standards and detail so the laymen doesn't have to, and the author seems to agree: "Consumers don't like to trouble themselves with the technical minutiae that interests enthusiasts. But it's the little things that make all of the difference..." if only he would've taken his own advice. Anyone registered there should probably inform the author, we can only dream of 6 GB/s SATA support anytime soon.

Back On-Topic: Intel's ICH10 does perform surprisingly well in single drive and simple RAID array configurations. Unfortunately Intel is holding back on SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 support on their desktop platforms until 2011 for largely business/sales reasons.
