Intel SSD 520 180GB: Huge Power-Off_Retract_Count: risky?

Unfortunately I don't have any warranty; every time I shut down, it counts: HP 2560p with i7 2620m, Debian stretch). I have also tested the ssd in a DVD sata caddy in the 2560p, the SSD is the only drive!

Any hints?

Even tested with a second computer (Asus dual core): exactly the same situation (Debian stretch and Lubuntu 18.04 LTS

Is it risky to use this ssd? I don't have any problems apart from these smart values...

The latest HP bios is installed and the latest 520 firmware as well. AHCI is set on bios-level. SSD is optimized in Windows 10

Thanks for posting in our communities.The Power-Off Retract Count SMART attribute counts the number of unsafe or unexpected power loss. Intel® SSD 520 Series Product Specification this is not a pre-fail value.However, it may lead to data corruption. For comparison, please boot into Windows 10* and provide us with the following information:- SSD SMART details from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27460/Intel-Solid-State-Drive-Toolbox?v=t Intel® SSD Toolbox. Please use the export feature and save it on your system.- Please download and run the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91... Thanks for your answer, but with linux, there is only smartctl or gsmartcontrol. The counter has stopped after the installation of Versiion LB3i. It wouldn't do any harm to mention in the Intel documentation that this firmware version fixes the power off retract count issue... Best regards H. Kramer
