Intel SSD 750 Series - VPD access through I2C

Does the 750 support accessing the VPD through SMBus address 53h, per the SSD Form Factor Specification?

I am not getting an acknowledge when reading from that address.

2.5" U.2 Form factor, 400GB

Using an ARM® Cortex®-M4F Based MCU TM4C123G Tiva uController to read on the SMBus connected to the NVMe drive.

Our IPMI is needing to read the VPD data of the drive attached to our system.

This works with a competitors NVMe Drive, but it is an enterprise grade drive.

I wanted to know if the 750 series will work, or if we need to use something like the P3500 Intel series drives for support of SMBUS query on the NVMe interface.

Thanks for your reply. Please allow us some time to investigate and confirm if this works with the Intel® SSD 750 Series or one of the NVMe drives on the Intel® DC SSD family.

We have updates regarding your inquiry.The feature of accessing VPD via SMBus is not available on the Intel® SSD 750 Series, which is a consumer drive.As you suggested, you can use Intel® SSD Data Center Drives such as the Intel® SSD P3500 Series (as shown on the https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-specifications/ssd-dc-p3500-ser... Product Specification, section 2.10).Please bear in mind that the DC P3500/3600/3700 models have reached end of life (even though they are still available on the market), we advise to consider using newer models such as the 3D NAND based https://ark.intel.com/products/series/96935/Intel-SSD-DC-P4500-Series Intel® SSD DC P4500 and https://ark.intel.com/products/series/96947/Intel-SSD-DC-P4600-Series P4600.I hope this information will be useful for you.
