We are re-building a VSAN all flash cluster with Intel SSD DC P4510 Series disks, and we want to know the health of the disks to estimate the life time they have, we use Intel SSD Data Center tool version 3.0.24-400 all the disks It has the firmware version Firmware: VDV10170, but when executing the commands described in the documentation of this tool we will always get the result: "Workload did not induce any wear on the drive. Expected life calculation is invalid. Ensure that workloads run for an hour or more for valid calculations. " annexed the log with the results of the commands used, it is worth mentioning that the version of the OS used is ESXi is 6.7 u3 and the driver ESX-6.7.0-intel-nvme-vmd-1.8.1.1001, we are also using the HCIBench tool ( https://flings.vmware.com/hcibench) to generate load on the disks attached a screenshot of the metrics that this tool gives us as well as the results of the SMART configurations

commands followed in order

Change it to below directory:

cd / opt / intel / isdct /

Execute the below steps:

./isdct show -a -intelssd 2

   ./isdct show -d EnduranceAnalyzer -intelssd 2

Reset the values:

./isdct set -intelssd 2 EnduranceAnalyzer = 'reset'

Run benchmark testing for 2 hours (HCIBench)

Execute the below steps:

  ./isdct show -a -intelssd 2

  ./isdct show -d EnduranceAnalyzer -intelssd 2

Hello OMenj,

Thank you for your patience.

We were reviewing the information you provide us. We will appreciate it if you can try the following recommendations, and let us know if they worked for you:

  • Instead of the DCT, we recommend you use the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool CLI (Command-Line Interface), that can be downloaded from the following link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29337/Intel-Memory-and-Storage-Tool-CLI-Command-Line-Interface-

Please, follow the instructions in the User manual (https://downloadmirror.intel.com/29337/eng/Intel_Memory_And_Storage_Tool_User%20Guide-Public-342245-001US.pdf).

  • We will appreciate it if you can run the firmware update in your SSD to the latest available version using the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool CLI. The section 3.2.1includes the instructions on how to do it.
  • After this process is completed, please attempt one more time, but this time use the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool CLI.

We will be looking forward to your reply and let us know the results.

Best regards.

Thanks for your response; just letting you know I was able to get Endurance Analyzer values for our SSD capacity disks ( Intel SSD DC P4510 Series on firmeware version  VDV10170) using SSD Data Center Tool ... but no luck with our cache Disks (P4800X  on firmwae version  E2010435)

now I testing Intel Memory and Sorage Tool. (intelmas), both appearing with "The selected Intel SSD contains current firmware as of this tool release.". either with SSD Intel Data Center Tool and Intel Memory and Sorage Tool.(intelmas)

If I try reset Disk got this

 ./intelmas set -intelssd 0 EnduranceAnalyzer = 'reset'

Error: The selected drive does not support this feature.

I tired wit more than one disk but got same result

Hello OMenj,

Thank you for your patience.

We noticed that there is another ticket open with our technical support department that is related to the same topic, SSD models, and serial numbers.

We would like to know if you have another ticket open with your reseller, or if another person from the same company opened this ticket for you (just to verify who opened the other ticket).

Please let us know, that way we can close one of them as a duplicate.

Best regards,
