I just talked to an Intel support operator though chat and he gaves this link: http://www.intel.com/support/ssdc/hpssd/sb/CS-033939.htm Intel® High Performance Solid-State Drives — Troubleshooting: SSD recognition issues saying its normal to Intel SSDs not work through USB (in my case I tested inside an USB case to backup purposes).
Is that right? I should NEVER buy and Intel SSD for that purpose? For that purpose I will need to use my Samsung 840 Pro that works through USB without problems?
And its not considered a defect by Intel.

Sent my drive to RMA and received another one. Yes it should and do work through USB.
