Intel industrial SSD manufacturing lifetime

Can someone point me in the right direction? I want to know typical manufacturing lifetime for any given Intel industrial SSD.

Problem: My company needs to choose industrial SSD to use for our product. In order to choose something like that we need to know how long it will be manufactured. From previous experience we have found that 1-2 year manufacturing time for industrial SSDs was typical in the industry. However for a large organization with very sensitive product 1-2 year manufacturing lifetime is not enough. 5 year cycle would be more ideal.

No company is going to manufacture high-tech items for more than two years or so unless you are buying enough for it to justify keeping a production line open. You might consider buying a few cases of a trusted drive and even then you will need to accept that the technology will fade against new products.

I understand. Yet Intel does manufacture network adapters and CPUs for the embedded markets. The lifetimes for these are ~5 years. I do not see how SSD is different from that. Manufacturing lifetimes are an important parameter in the decision for the part selection, especially for industrial market. Are there any SSDs that Intel manufactures that are manufactured longer than 2 years?

SSDs are different because they use NAND which becomes smaller every so often to maintain competitive prices. Intel's 330/520 SSDs entered the market in Q3 2012, but does any company still manufacture 25nm NAND? I think you should direct your question to an Intel marketing, reseller, or VAR department.

Hello,

As paramountain mentioned, Intel® SSD's do not have a manufacturing commitment like some embedded components do. We recommend you to contact your preferred reseller found in the http://locate.intel.com/ Intel® Technology Providers Locator.

You may find additional presales information using these contact methods as well:
