Is the Intel SSD 660p 512GB M.2 PCIe module compatible with this motherboard: MSI X99A SLI Plus Gaming 7. The mobo is over 3 years old and manual says its M.2 port supports M.2 SATA 6Gb/s. Thanks!

No. The 660p modules are M.2 NVMe SSDs and will not work in slots specifically intended to support M.2 SATA SSDs. In fact, the keying of these modules is such that they, in theory, will not plug into slots intended to support only M.2 SATA SSDs.
