Looking for details on firmware LHF003C for the SSD 545s

Jump to solution

Hello,

The Intel SSD Toolbox v 3.5.3 reports that a new firmware version (LHF003C) is available for my SSD 545s.

Before deciding to update, I'd like to view the release notes, but they seem not available (yet)?

Is LHF003C a necessary update for the SSD 545s Series 256GB?

Current firmware: LHF002C

Thank you for the info.

Hello Fritzz,

Thanks for posting in the Intel® SSD community,

I have contacted the engineering team about your concern and their reply is as followed:

"Thank you for pointing out this miss. You are correct that the Intel SSD Toolbox 3.5.3 contains a FW update for Intel SSD 545s Series products. We will be updating these in the next release, but for your information, below are the changes that are contained in this FW update and products included. Note that it is always recommended to update to the latest FW version available.

This release of the Intel® SSD Toolbox includes firmware update for the

Intel® SSD 545s Series products (128GB, 256GB and 512GB), for latest firmware revision LHF003C.

Intel® SSD Pro 5450s Series products (128GB, 256GB and 512GB), for latest firmware revision LHF003P.

Intel® SSD E 5100s Series products (128GB and 256GB), for latest firmware revision LH002E.

These firmware versions contain the following enhancements:

Improved SMART E8/E9 implementation

Improved SSD recovery flows from unsafe shutdown scenarios

Optimized firmware policies to:

Prevent premature retirement of NAND blocks as bad

Manage media page count changes during power state transitions

Handle FW flows when E2E errors are triggered during secure erase operation"

Hope this information helps to clarify your questions.

Best Regards,

Juan N.
