Migration vs. fresh install - performance?

Is there a difference in performance?

If there is a difference, it is very small. I migrated my OS and programs from an Intel G2 80GB SSD to an Intel 510 120GB SSD using the Acronis/Intel software (which worked perfectly BTW) and testing the 510 afterward showed performance right at the "up to" specs and a bit more.

If possible, I would install your new drive in a PC, format it and just satisfy yourself that it is functioning correctly. You could even do before and after migration benchmarks and see for yourself. The migration process does not take long and does not ruin the contents of the source drive. If you're not happy after the migration, do a secure erase on the new drive and perform a fresh install.
