P3608 ssd: lspci OK while fdisk fail to find device.

My P3608 ssd seems to have some problems recently. lspci works fine and I can find /dev/nvme*n1.

However, fdisk doesn't show this device.

isdct also cannot find information about this disk.

When using fio to test, it works fine without option "direct=1" while fails with it.

Does someone knows what happened to this ssd???

ps. information in details is listed below.

Thanks for your continuous support.

Seems that updating firmware fails for some unknown reason.

isdct version is 3.0.10. Sorry to tell that my OS is ubuntu and don't have other OS versions for testing in the present.

Are there any other ways to update the firmware?

Regards,

lpyh

Hi lpyh,

Thanks for the reply. We recommend you to use the latest version of the Intel® SSD Data Center Tool in order to update the firmware because you are already using an old version of the tool 3.0.10. It seems that we already release a newer version of the tool and it ishttps://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27778/Intel-SSD-Data-Center-Tool?product=87278 3.0.12. We would like to inform you that you can also use the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27656/Intel-Solid-State-Drive-Toolbox?product=80096 Intel® Solid State Drive Toolbox. However, it only works with the following operating systems Windows 10*, Windows 8.1*, Windows 8*, Windows 7*. Please keep in mind that if you use Windows* you need to install the following https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27517/Datacenter-NVMe-Microsoft-Windows-Drivers-for-Intel-... driver. If you have the same situation, we recommend you to use one of the operating systems supported by the drive( Intel(R) Provided Windows* Server 2012 R2, Windows* Server 2008 R2 x64, Windows* 7(32bit/64bit), Windows* 8(32bit/64bit), Windows* 8.1(32bit/64bit)/ In-box Driver RHEL* 6.5,RHEL* 6.6,RHEL* 6.7,RHEL* 7.0,RHEL* 7.1,SLES11* SP4, Windows* Server 2012 R2,Windows* 8.1,Citrix* Xenserver 6.5,CentOS* 6.5) and try with the Intel® SSD Data Center Tool version 3.0.12.Please let us know the outcome of your situation. Regards,Junior M.

Hi lpyh,

Is there a possibility for you to install one of the operating systems suggested above in order to check if you get the same output regarding the firmware update? If so, please let us know if you are able to update the firmware. Regards, Junior M.

The os I am using is Fedora release 27, the same to redhat. However, I'm still unable to update the firmware.
