Hi,

i have a problem with my Intel X25-M SATA SSD on 34nm (silver case) and software secure erase 3.3. i have installed on asus rampage II extreme and with updates to FW version 02M3 secure erase not finish and stop on AUDIT LOG FILE CREATED SUCCESSFULLY. With the precedent FW secure erase terminate with AUDIT LOG SUCCESSFULLY WRITTEN TO LBA SECTOR 0 and with DO YOU WISH TO VIEW LBA SECTOR 0? now the SSD work perfectly but not finish secure erase, why? It's a problem not written to lba sector 0? As i can resolve this problem? i make secure whenever i reinstall new windows for best performance on my SSD. Sorry for my english 🙂

Hi

I encountered this exact same issue. I'm not exactly sure of the cause, but your case isn't an isolated incident.

oops. was just going to add, that HDD Erase 4.0 suffers the same thing. The procedure seems to work and the secure erase is initiated, it's just this part of the HDDErase program process which doesn't seem to work anymore for whatever reason.

I found this method described here works too - since it just initiates the command and doesn't worry about writing a log file etc.: https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/ATA_Secure_Erase https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/ATA_Secure_Erase. Alternatively, installing the SSD in another machine and running the secure erase from the Intel SSD Toolbox works still.

Thank you very much for reply OZZ! I try the alternative method.

Try setting the BIOS to IDE and use compatible mode. (Don't forget to switch back when you are done).
