Hello exitapg,

The Intel® SSD DC S3700 Series, model SSDSC2BA800G3P, is compatible with many HP servers; however, we would need the information of your server to confirm if it is supported with it.

Please let us know the model of your server, and if possible, the link to the HCL you mentioned.

Hello exitapg,

Thanks for the information on the HCL link, however, we still need the information on the HP server model you have.

Hello exitapg,

Could you please check on your SSD for the HP PN and check to see if that shows up on the VMWare site? Please set the Search For filter to SSD and the the Partners filter to HP. If it does not show then we suggest that you contact HP and ask them to get their part registered as compatible on the VMWare site. We can not do that as it is technically an HP part. The drive will work with VSAN6.

Hi thank you for your help The HP part no is 691851-001 and it does not appear on the VMWare website I have tried to contact HP support via their website but they require a valid part number and the SSD does not show up I have validated the part number online via other websites and it checks out as the same drive that I have so it should appear on the HP support section have you any suggestions as to where in HP I should contact to get this moving? Any help would be much appreciated

Hi I have called their server support but have had no luck as they say the serial number is not recognised and without a HP support contract I can't take it any further... what can I do now as they work fine with VSAN6 and you/Intel have stated they are compatible? To replace these drives will cost over £9000

Hello exitapg,

We would like to know if the drive came pre-installed in your system or if you added it on after you purchase.

Hi it came pre-installed in a couple of HP servers which we have since disposed of We kept these drives as we intended to use them in a Dell configured VSAN setup using 3 x R720xd servers as hosts with a hybrid disk storage array consisting of 2 x 691851-001 SSDs as cache and 12 x 3TB HDDs in each host. So in total 36 HDDs and 6 SSDs

Hello exitapg,

VMWare shows HP part No. 691868-B21 as compatible. Please look at the attached document on page 5 that the 69168-B21 is an "Option Kit" which included the bulk Assy 691851-001 (the part number shown on the drive). Only the "Option Kit" number is not printed on the label, just the bulk Assy number. For your reference, please see the picture below:
