SSD Optimizer Scheduler in SDD Toolbox 3.1.2 will lost job from list if you manually set "Do not store password" in job settings of Windows Task Scheduler

Hi.

Found bug: SSD Optimizer Scheduler in SDD Toolbox 3.1.2 will lost job from list if you manually set "Do not store password" in job settings of Windows Task Scheduler. So latest version of SDD Toolbox 3.1.2 didn't support the "Service-for-User" (S4U) extensions to the Kerberos authentication protocol. Hey guys from Intel, kick your software developers to implement it (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa382140(v=vs.85).aspx Security Contexts for Tasks (Windows)).

Configuration:

Hardware:

MB: Asus P5Q-E (BIOS version: 2101)

 

Storage controller: Intel ICH10R in RAID mode (IRST driver version: 11.7.0.1013)

 

Storage controller: Marvell 88SE6121 + Silicon Image Sil5723 port multiplier in JBOD mode (Marvell RAID driver version: 1.2.0.8400)

 

SSDs: 2 x Intel SSDSA2BW160G3 on ICH10R in RAID0 mode

 

HDDs: Seagate ST3320418AS, Seagate ST31000528AS, Seagate ST32000645NS, Seagate ST32000645NS on ICH10R in Non-RAID mode HDDs: Seagate ST32000645NS on Marvell 88SE6121 + Silicon Image Sil5723 port multiplier in JBOD mode

HDDs: Seagate ST31000528AS on Marvell 88SE6121 eSATA inside Sarotech HardBox 3.0 Combo W-31US3 Plus (hot plugged/unplugged periodically)

Software:

OS: MS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 Russian

 

.NET Framework installed in GAC: 2.0 SP 2, 3.0 SP 2, 3.5 SP 1, 4.0 (Client & Full)

 

IRST: 11.7.0.1013

 

SSD Toolbox: 3.1.2

 

Marvell MSU: 1.2.0.1032

 

Silicon Image 57xx SteelVine: 5.1.24B

Hello Mosc. Thank you for posting.

The Intel® SSD Toolbox will only provide TRIM support for RAID 0 on 7 series motherboards (when using Intel® chipset). In this case the results you are getting regarding TRIM support might be purely cosmetic since the combination of SATA controller and RAID is not supported. For your system TRIM is supported if using Intel® ICH10R with a single AHCI (non RAID) drive. This is due to a limitation of the SATA controller unable to translate the TRIM command from SATA to SCSI.

Hi, Joe.

According to info I found (for ex. in Intel SSD Toolbox Help) TRIM is supported on ICH10R in RAID0 and that is my case (see hardware configuration in my previous post: 2 x Intel SSDSA2BW160G3 on ICH10R in RAID0 mode).

Quote from Intel SSD Toolbox Help:

Intel® SSD Optimizer Requirements

...

† The Intel SSD Optimizer can be used on a drive in a RAID array if all of the following conditions are true:

  • The drives are configured as RAID0
  • Version 11.0 or later of Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (RST) is installed
  • All drives in the RAID array are Intel SSDs that support Trim
  • The array is healthy
  • The operating system is not Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012
