SSD from x1 Carbon

This is going to sound funny. My ex-girlfriend was using my x1 carbon for a while. we broke up, she left me the notebook.

I started it up and boom! a hdd password. She does not remember it and I do not even know it.

I've read online that I have to throw it away now and buy a new one? Really? There is no way to unlock it?

Eugene57, I am sorry for the issue you encountered.

For Intel® SSDs the only way to gain access to the drive (and to the information stored in it) is entering the password, since it is a security feature there is no workaround, otherwise it may be possible to get a new drive for the computer to operate again. However, without knowing the drive's brand the best advice is to contact your system manufacturer for further assistance.
