AC8265 in Access Point Mode

I'm using an AC8265 (8265.NGWMG.NV) as an access point and seem to be only able to get 12 clients connected to it.  Is the module limited to the number of clients it can have in AP mode?

Hello carras3,

Thank you for posting on the Intel* Community.

To better assist you, please provide me with the below information:

  • Are you using band 2.4GHz or 5GHz?
  • How many devices do you want to connect?
  • Is it possible to attach pictures to see where are the devices listed? (Screenshots to verify the configuration)

Attach the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU)

Hi Maria,

  • We are using the 2.4 band.  I do not think this chip supports AP mode for 5GHZ, but please let me know if it does.
  • Ideally we are looking to maintain connections with up to 50 or so clients (if possible).  The bare minimum we need is 25 clients.  They are IOT devices that require very little bandwidth and communicate KB of data back and forth per day.
  • I will try to get a picture of the connections, but the radio seems to no longer accept clients after 12 clients are connected.
  • The module is running on a Ubuntu 18.04 machine.  Do you have the same support utility for Linux?

Hello carras3,

Yes, you can find the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU)  for Linux based systems here: https://community.intel.com/t5/Wireless/AC8265-in-Access-Point-Mode/m-p/1234590#M32419

If you are unable to run the tool, please provide us the specific motherboard/system you are using and the wireless driver version.

Also, and just to confirm, is the Wireless card an integration you made to your system?
