AX201 Bluetooth dead after sleep (S3) and resume

Can someone kindly look at the kernel issue described here https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209659 ?

On linux S3 is broken for AX201 BT device. Device is gone and BT is dead after resume.

I know it's only XXI century but I would be  delighted if I can connect my BT mouse to my laptop once again.

Thanks.

Hello pawelwod,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to better assist you, please provide the following information:

  • Was the Bluetooth working fine before after coming back from sleep? If so, was there any change before the issue started?
  • Was your wireless adapter pre-installed in your Lenovo ThinkBook 15?
  • Are you having problems with Wi-Fi too, or is it just with Bluetooth?

As well, please get a report using our Intel® System Support Utility for Linux https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18895/26735/intel-system-support-utility-for-the-linux-operating-system.html? and attach it to your reply.

> Was the Bluetooth working fine before after coming back from sleep?

Yes, before first sleep BT is working totally fine. I can connect mouse, keyboard, audio and any other device.

> If so, was there any change before the issue started?

This part I don't understand. After laptop coming back from sleep there is no BT available. Whole BT functionality is gone.

> Was your wireless adapter pre-installed in your Lenovo ThinkBook 15?

It's builtin into the laptop. I don't have more details.

> Are you having problems with Wi-Fi too, or is it just with Bluetooth?

No, WiFi is working fine all the time.

Here you are. I removed sensitive data from the command output (serials, MAC/IP address etc).
The tool is outdated, so adding also output from lshw.

BT is quite important to me so please contact me in any form (including directly) if you need some real time debugging or logs.

Thank you for your response.

I apologize, I explained wrong. I meant if there was any change before the issue started or has it always been like that?

Hello pawelwod,

In order to continue with our investigation, could you please help us with the undermentioned information?

  • Are you using a single OS or dual-boot operating systems (Ubuntu & Win10) on the Lenovo ThinkBook 15IIL?
  • Is the issue occurring when Bluetooth device does not pair with any devices? If so, what is the failure rate?

As well, try the following and check if Bluetooth still fails to be detected after resuming from S3:

  • Unmount the Dell Dock (and other USB devices)
  • Try to plug the Dock to other USB ports (if available)

Try the following workarounds to disable USB auto-suspend specifically for AX201:

Yes, it's dual boot on separated SSD.

100% reproduction rate when nothing is paired.

Unmounted Dell Dock and all other devices - just laptop. No change.

Disabled autosuspand using steps you provided:

Bus 004 Device 001 ID 1d6b:0003 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 0 -- Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub (hub)
Bus 003 Device 005 ID 13d3:5415 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- IMC Networks Integrated Camera (uvcvideo)
Bus 003 Device 003 ID 04f3:0c4b control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 2000 -- Elan Microelectronics Corp. ELAN:Fingerprint (no driver)
Bus 003 Device 008 ID 8087:0026 control = on, autosuspend_delay_ms = -1 -- Intel Corp. AX201 Bluetooth (btusb)
Bus 003 Device 001 ID 1d6b:0002 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 0 -- Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub (hub)
Bus 002 Device 001 ID 1d6b:0003 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 0 -- Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub (hub)
Bus 001 Device 001 ID 1d6b:0002 control = auto, autosuspend_delay_ms = 0 -- Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub (hub)

Still no change.

In order to continue, please try the following steps:

Step 1. Unmount other USB devices and do not pair any Bluetooth devices,

#lshw

Step 2. [Start to reproduce the issue]

Step 3. Once issue is reproduced, press CTRL+C to stop btmon logging

Step 4. Provide output of the following commands:

#lshw

#lsusb

# hcitool cmd 3f 05

# sudo dmesg > dmesg.log

Sorry, I will gather logs you requested but I have too much work right now.
