for this AX210 advanced configuration MIMO Power Savings Mode
- does the "Static SMPS" setting cause the AX210 to use only 1 antenna?
- does that disable its 2x2 MIMO ?
- does this setting work?
I tried it and saw no effect.
Windows shows no difference in PHY Link speed.
looking it up in MCS tables, it is staying at 2x2 MIMO.
MIMO power save mode
MIMO power save mode, also known as spatial multiplexing power save (SMPS) mode, allows the client to save power by keeping one antenna in a receive idle state.
Auto SMPS (default): The client decides automatically what SMPS mode to apply depends on different conditions.
Dynamic SMPS: The client keeps only one antenna active. The access point (AP) must send request to send (RTS) packet to trigger the client to wake the sleeping radios/antenna before sending MIMO packets.
Static SMPS: The client keeps only one antenna active and the AP cannot send MIMO packets to the client.
No SMPS: The client always keeps all antennas active and the AP can send MIMO packets to the client.

ohhh.
my confusion was mainly due to using old driver 22.45.1.1 to enable 6GHz with Windows 10.
this "Static SMPS" setting apparently doesn't work with that old (MS digitally-signed) driver.
using the latest intel driver 22.220.0.0 the setting works much as expected for RX.
it reduces receive speed to half what 2x2 MIMO supports.
but Windows still shows the RX/TX PHY link speeds as equal, while idle.
as the MIMO Power Save Mode info states, the settings apply only to RX.
TX is unaffected and continues to use 2x2 MIMO.
