rrecroc,

Yes, and it will depend on the operating system. The virtual adapter is a virtual connection created between the wireless adapter and any external device to create a direct connection. Our Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 supports virtual adapters. In Windows* 8.1, Microsoft changed the way so there no more need for virtual adapter. Our recommendation is for you to check all the documentation Microsoft has about virtual adapters. Please check the links below for further assistance.

We hope this information helped. Please let us know.

Thank you for your reply Aleki ...... could you be a bit more specific as why it is no longer needed .... I know AC 7265 supports Wi-Fi Direct .... right ?

Does the Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter have any relationship whatsoever with Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter or are they independent of each other ?

Thanks in advance.
