Can't turn on Mobile hotspot for 5 GHz on Windows 11 (The selected network band isn't available)

I'm using Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 laptop with Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX203 wireless network card and Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller network controller.

  • Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX203 driver version: 23.120.0.3
  • OS: Windows 11 24H2, build: 26100.4484

I have set Network band to 5 Ghz, but I am unable to turn on Mobile hotspot. The error message is showing: "The selected network band isn't available. Select a different band and try again."

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It works only with 2.4 GHz reliably.

Hello QuestionX,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

Consider reinstalling your latest OEM wireless driver, version 23.103.0.3, using the clean installation steps provided here. Also, review the Recommended Settings for 802.11ax Connectivity. If the issue persists, download the latest Intel generic driver, version 23.140.0.3.

Additionally, you might find these resources useful:

I reinstalled the Lenovo driver 23.103.0.3 for Intel Wi-Fi, I checked all the properties (recommended settings) and by default they were set as required. This made no difference, it still didn't work properly.

Then I used a driver update tool to install non-Lenovo WHQL latest Intel driver 23.140.0.3, but it also made no difference.

It just doesn't turn on reliably. Out of 10 tries, there is one time it turns on fine without showing the error.

This problem is for 5GHz only band.

When switching band to 2.4 GHz it works 100% reliably. I can turn it on and off without the error that can be seen above in gif.
