Cannot detect 5ghz wireless connection

Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 cannot detect 5ghz wireless connection. Other 2.4ghz connection works fine.

Driver version 19.50.1.5 on Windows 10.

Need help.

We understand you're having issues detecting 5 Ghz networks with your Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265.

 

 

Please download and run the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility Intel® System Support Utility. This application will allow you to save your settings and hardware configuration into a report.

 

 

In order to share this file with us you will need to switch over to the "advanced editor" while replying.

There's nothing wrong with your settings that should be limiting you to 2.4 GHz. Where you able to connect to 5 GHz networks before?

To begin troubleshooting we would like to suggest updating to the latest wireless driver from your computer manufacturer.

If after updating to this driver the issue continues, we can switch to our latest generic driver release. To switch from OEM to Intel® Generic drivers, we recommend performing a clean installation:

1. Download the latest Windows® 10 driver package and save it to a known location: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26653/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windo... Wireless_19.50.1_PROSet64_Win10.exe

 

2. Uninstall the Intel® PROSet Wireless Software from Programs and Features in the Control Panel. When prompted, choose to "discard settings."

 

3. Uninstall the wireless driver from Device Manager. Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 > Right click > Uninstall > Select the checkbox to "delete the driver software for this device."

 

4. Remove leftovers in your temporary files: Press the Windows* Key + R to open the run box > Type Cleanmgr.exe and press OK > Make sure that "Temporary Files" has a check mark, everything else may be unchecked > Press OK.

 

5. Restart your computer.

 

6. Install the wireless driver you downloaded back in step one.

After this you may apply our http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005544.html recommended settings, or leave the defaults in place. It's also important to make sure that your router or access point has been configured properly and is using the latest firmware available.

Hello Sven38,

Just like M.Izhar, your settings are at default and there's nothing that should prevent you from detecting 5 GHz networks.

- Where you able to detect these networks before, or has this been an ongoing issue?

 

- Have you tested to see if you're having issues only with your network, or with others as well?

I reviewed the support page for your computer, and it seems that you're already using the latest system specific wireless driver. What we can suggest will be to follow the clean installation process we described above using our latest generic drivers. You may also want to check and make sure that your router is using the latest firmware.
