Centrino Wireless-N 1030 speed issue

I have Dell XPS l702x notebook with Centrino Wireless-N 1030 in it. It should support up to 300 mbps speed, and it was working well for me year or two. But some time ago speed over wifi dropped and no longer constant. First of all i decided to change routed from DLink DIR-655 to Mikrotik 951. Then checked the channels and moved all the neighborhoods so as the y no longer conflict with me.

BUT nothing changed.

So it connects at 300 mbps to both DLink or Mikrotik. But then speed drops fast to 54 mbps.

And the worst that speed test show very bad results. Speed changes all the time from 0.1 mbos to 10 mbps. Ping from 3 ms to timeout.

The other devices works well. The ASUS notebook keeps 150 mbps without any changes and speed test shows 20 mbps all the time.

So i think the problem with wifi card or with antennas or with drivers.

Does any one had something similar?

Dmitro,

In this case, you may want to take a look into the encryption settings. If you are using encryption methods such as WEP, WPA-TKIP, your data rate will drop to 54 Mbps. The latest Intel® wireless adapter client drivers connect using a legacy IEEE 802.11g connection rather than failing to connect altogether, which complies with the IEEE 802.11n draft. Try your speed without encryption to see if you will notice any optimization on it. If this issue started after a Windows* update, you also may roll back the to the previous drivers when it worked with no issue. We have found this link that might help you resolve the issue as well. Hello Dmitro,

Our first recommendation would be to contact the manufacturer of your computer, in this case Dell*, as they change features, incorporate customizations, or make other changes to your adapter software. Please check with them first and see if they have released any system-specific updates that might help you resolve the speed issues. Hi, thanks for advice, I have already wrote there. But I don't expect much from them since i use common latest drivers from Intel. Maybe only Windows Update can change drivers. Have you heard about any related driver specific issues?

I just thinking about reinstall Windows, buy new wifi card or disassemble and look at antennas. But any of this can take a lot of time so I wonder what should i do first.

You were right, the issues was with driver version. I have uninstalled all versions of drivers for wifi card as well as widi, bluetooth and proset. And then installed the version from Dell site. And now it works like before. Thanks for fast help.

But any way that looks strange that newer drivers works worst then old one. I would ask developers to look at this but it is up to you now. Thanks one more time.

Dmitro,

Thank you for your feedback. It is always appreciated. We would like to let you know that all drivers found in our website are generic and may not fit all (Original Equipment Manufacturer) OEM's systems considering the adaptations and customizations each manufacturer does in order to have the card fit their system. Access the links below to find more detailed information.

Hi, thanks for the links, I didn't know about voltage versions of PCIe.

But in general that is still strange to me to have this OEM drivers. Basically that was the reason why I "left" to buy notebooks with AMD video cards. You may know that it is night mare if you want to update driver for ATI on laptop. You need to download some app and libs and patch drivers and check if they work. And over and over. Sometimes you get not working power schemes sometimes screen blinks... And sometimes use 5-7 years old drivers is not an option.

But any way thanks, the thread can be closed.

Cya.
