DN2820FYKH WiFi issues

Hi all,

So I've recently moved from OpenELEC to Windows 8.1 for my Celeron NUC. Everything works fine except for the built in Wifi.. It is just very very slow. I have tried an external TP-Link wireless adapter with my NUC and that works perfectly from the same distance (10m away from router).

TP-Link adapter - 14mbps up / 1mbps down

Built in Wireless-N 7260BN - 1mbps up / 1mbps down

Is this specific built in wifi adapter not up to scratch? do I have to upgrade the wifi adapter or can I change some settings?

Other info:

- have changed router to b/g/n mode and all result in the same performance

- all wifi adapters work fine and can reach full speeds anywhere in the house

- using the latest wireless drivers

Hi noonoo12, let me provide you with some recommendations.

Please make sure you have http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034041.htm Intel® PROSet Wireless Software version 17.1 as well as the laterst firmware upgrade for your router.

Try to verify the wireless security encryption being used by the router and the laptop and avoid mixed encryption types if possible. http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/4965agn/sb/cs-025643.htm Intel WiFi Products — Data rate will not exceed 54 Mbps when WEP or TKIP encryption is configured

Update your Intel® NUC BIOS.

You may want to check for sources of interference near Intel® NUC's location; such as cordless phones, microwave ovens and other similar devices operating at 2.4GHz. The same may apply for some solid objects like walls.
