Difference between 6235AN.HMWWB and 6235AN.HMWG ???

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to ask what the difference is between the 6235AN.HMWWB and 6235AN.HMWG models of the new 6235 wifi card?

I plan to replace the stock card in my Asus G73JW laptop. I was originally going to buy a 6230, but then I noticed that these seem to be the latest 2x2 w/ bluetooth cards so I may as well get the latest version. Problem is, on all online stores, the cards have no information and I can't tell what the difference is between each sku.

Hope someone can enlighten me! Many thanks!

Cody

Hello CodyLoco

Actually there is no difference between these adapters as far as the hardware characteristics.

You can find the "Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 6235: Product Brief" from this URL:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/centrino/centrino-advanced-n-wimax-6235-brief.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/centrino/centrino-advanced-n-wimax-6235-brief.html

The WG and WWB simply refer to the packaging size. The HMWG is the Generic SKU sold in minimum qty 100 and the HMWWB is the White Box SKU sold in minimum qty 10.

You should check with your OEM to ensure that the laptop will accept the adapter you are planning to install. Also, there could be regulatory requirements that you need to meet for your country, since the end user is not authorized to install these wireless adapters. They can only be installed by the manufacturer or its authorized representative.

Installing an aftermarket wireless adapter in your laptop can cause several issues which may affect usage of the wireless adapter or laptop. Some of these issues may include the following:

- The OEM may have installed the wireless adapter with a lock to prevent installation of another adapter.

- Your adapter may not be electrically compatible with your laptop that may cause the adapter and/or your laptop to no longer function.

- Wireless hardware installation and use is subject to regulatory approval, and the adapter purchased may not support your local regulations.
