Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (7260HMW) and Intel Dashboard

I just received my Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (7260HMW) and I was so full of hope looking forward to the upgrade so I could use wi-fi direct with my samsung galaxy s3. However after 7 hours of looking at forums, trying different combinations of software as far back in the previous versions as I can find. I can NOT even get Dashboard Full to install...

Windows 7 64 bit.

Dell Studio 1749 I-3 M350 2.27

Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (7260HMW)

What would be super awesome given the fact there are literally thousands of people complaining about Intel Dashboard Lite/Full is a pop up in the program to tell you exactly WHY full is choosing not to install. Adapter/missing driver/ wrong hardware whatever instead of just having to open the program to see if the word lite is on the splash screen. Then logging on here to see the same suggestions that do not appear to work over and over again....

Any help would be appreciated.. or if you can tell me what in my system is not compatible with this program so I can stop wasting my time. Thank You.

You will never be able to get the full dashboard working since your platform is for Nehalem architecture while the 7260 cards are for the Haswell plateform. In addition WiDi won't work or Bluetooth may have flaky functionality. As for WiFi, you can only install the drivers only version. The ProSet software package will be limited due to chipset incompatibility.

The only benefit is the WiFi AC functionality and nothing more unless you have a haswell chipset laptop.

THANK YOU so much! Now I know not to waste more time.

Different question then, will any of the inlet chips work with my architecture to allow me to get wi-fi Direct? That is honestly my only goal as this point.

I'm not really familiar with the WiFi direct feature, but the oldest Intel WiFi card that supports the Full WiFi Dashboard is the Intel 6250 WiMax. I'm not sure if that card will have its features fully compatible with Nehalem / Arrandale architecture since it is mostly bundled with the Sandy Bridge architecture but it's worth a shot.

The best recommendation is to contact your system manufacturer since wireless hardware integration is only supported by them due to hardware compatibility and required regulatory approvals.

Thanks for all of your help.

According to dell to get wifi direct on a dell studio 1749 you can use the following card.

CENTRINO ADVANCED-N 6235, DUAL BAND, 2X2, BLUETOOTH HMC SINGLE SKU

I hope this helps someone else looking for their system. I am ordering one in the morning, and will post if it for some reason does not work when it arrives.

Did you get this working? My Father wants to do use WiFi Direct with his Studio 1749 but I just can't find out anywhere whether it will or will not support it if we add this card.

Hi everybody,

I have the same issue and here is my config:

Asus S200E-C158H with Core i3 ''3217U", Win 8.1.1., 64bit.

PROSet ver.: 17.13.

My Wifi Dashboard ver.: 15.5 (then 15.6).

And as a result: My Wifi Dashboard is on Lite mode (Due to the presence of Win8).

N.B: The wifi Direct is working with a Miracast Generic dongle, tried it at the store for a future pruchase, it seemed to stream well but need to do more tests, I don't know if the audio is also wirelessely streamed?

Intel® My WiFi Dashboard requires an Intel® Centrino Wireless adapter and a similar or matching version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software.

Mahmet2034, you may use Wi-Fi Direct as it is natively supported in Windows* 8.

There is the option to create a hosted network too.

Hello,

OK, so now I have the Miracast Dongle pluggued on an LG HD LED TV, the connection was easy, and the streaming is also doing the Audio part.

Still, there is a litle delay between the action on the laptop and the reaction on the TV, maybe an Intel driver issue.

In summary:

Asus S200E (CT-158H) (X202 same mobo).

CPU: Intel Core i3-3217U.

Graphics: HD 4000.

WiFi: Intel AC 7260HMW.

OS: WIn 8.1.1. 64bit.

Drivers: Intel PROSet ver. 17.06. (Works with 17.13 WHQL).

The WiFi Direct Display (Miracast) is working and fully functional.

Regards,
