Hi. I am a user from Turkey. I have some issues with WPA2 networks. Actually WPA2 networks broadcasted by Airties Modems. The problem is that after Windows 8.1 update, my computer cannot detect these Airties modem networks. The problem is not about the modem because I have one another notebook with 3965 abg and 3 different Andoid phones and they can detect the network.
Indeed, the problem was not there before the update. Because the copmputer can detect all the networks and even the networks being secured with wpa2. With the update system says update Asus Wireless radio control and the driver. After update WPA2 networks disappers. But I have another modem like Asus DSL AC68U and this modem's wpa2 networks can be detectable. But wpa2 networks of one of Turkey's best modem brands, Airties, are disappered.
I have sent my notebook to Asus Turkey Service Center and they changed wireless card but this is not solution. ANd the service center says: 'we tried the computer and we tried it our different Asus modems and we cannot detect any problems. Actually they are right because this problems only occurs with Airties modems. So they do a favour and have changed the wireless card. And as I said this is not a solution. So I have changed wireless card myself and ordered 7260 ac wireless card. (The notebook has 7260n in stock) But this is not a solution either.
I think this a problem about driver. Because the problem only occurs before update the driver to windows 8.1.
Sorry for the bad English but I have a problem like this. Thanks in advance.
Edit: (As a summary) I want to add additional info. The problem occurs like this: I create a network and security is WPA/WPA2 multimode in user interface of modem. (192.168.2.1) And I connect to network easily. And then I change the security from WPA/WPA2 multimode to WPA2. Ant it happens. The same network disappears. The notebook cannot detect it. But other devices like smartphones and the other notebook of mine regulary deteck and connect it.

HI alprkrkmz,
I am sorry you are having problems but let me help you.
I would like to verify once again to have a clear picture of your problem. Do you mean that after updating from another Operating System to Windows 8.1 the wireless card is not recognizing the router anymore? Did you do an upgrade on the Operating System or are you referring to a windows update?
As you mentioned, you are using the AC 7260 wireless adapter but do you know what the driver version is?
I would appreciate if you attach your dxdiag report here.
How to get it?
Dxdiag Report: Type dxdiag in Start Menu> open> Save> Copy/Paste here.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for your answer.
My notebook is Asus S551LB. İT has dual band wireless 7260n. And I replaced it with 7260ac.
The problem is about the notebook cannot detect WPA2 wireless networks. But only Airties brand modems. Let me tell you in order.
First, I create a wireless network secured by WPA/WPA2 common mode. There is no problem. PC can easily detect and connect the network. After that, I change the security to only WPA2 in modem's UI. Same wireless network. The only difference is the security. But suddenly PC cannot detect the same network. Same wireless network name. But it disappears. I have talked about this problem Asus Turkey Service Center. I had recorded a video about this problem. They said 'you are right. We watched the video. We could see the problem. But We have tried our own modems and we couldnt see the problem.' So they dont help me. Neither Asus Turkey nor Airties help me. Because they say that they cannot detect any problems.
They are right because this problem is about Airties modems. But I want to add something. The problem I have doesnt occur while using Windows 8. İt appears only when I update windows from 8 to 8.1. Because W8 drivers dont cause this problem. While using 8, I dont see that. Drivers of Intel compatible with Win8 doesnt make this problem. But drivers compatible with 8.1 make it happen.
And yes, I use the latest wireless driver 17.0.6, Windows 8.1 has latest updates. I use both 7260n and 7260ac. Both are dual band wireless. You asked for dxdig report but it is too long to copy it here.
Sorry for bad English. But This is all I can do. I will upload a video to Youtube about this.

Hi alprkrkmz,
Thanks for the information.
On the video I see you are using just the Windows Connection tool but I would like you to try the following:
- Delete the Wireless profile from the computer. Here you have the instructions:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/manage-wireless-network-profiles http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/manage-wireless-network-profiles
- Update the Wireless driver to the latest. Here you can download the latest one:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24220 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24220
- Try using the PROSet Connection Tool in order to connect to the wireless.
- Make sure the router firmware is updated.
- After changing the Security encryption try turning the router off for about 3 min and then turn it back on.

Hi again Kevin.
Unfortunately none of them works. Same problem again. But I insist on that only 8.1 drivers do that. Because if I use windows 8, I dont see this problem. Only when I use 8.1 I see that.
Maybe this a problem about the modems I use. Because only Airties brand modems cause this problem. Airties corporation doesnt seem to be interested in my problem. Maybe Intel makes them interested.
thanks.

Hİ Kevin. Sorry for being late to answer.
Nope it is not same. For example I create a wireless hotspot on my LG G2 cell phone. And I can see the wifi. No problem. As I said before it happens only with Airties brand modems. Because I have another modem Asus DSL AC68U and there is no problem with WPA2 networks and wifi networks.

Hello alprkrkmz,
I would like to get the following information:
- What happens if you use WPA only?
- What capability for WPA is supported TKIP or CCMP?
- Have you tried running the latest firmware for these Access Points? What is the version installed?
I appreciate the information you can provide.

Hi Kevin. I really thank you for your interest. I have married 4 days ago so I couldn't give an answer to you until now. Sorry for that.
1) If I choose WPA there is no problem. Computer can detect and connect to wifi.
2) The modems have not this choice. What I want to say that there is no choice to select TKIP or CCMP.
3) All of the modems have the latest firmwares. Air 5452 - 1.2.0.22
Air 5343 - 1.6.0.5. I don't think that this is the problem because latest firmwares has been distributed by airties in 2011 and 2012. By the way I can not skip that Airties is a ridiculous company. They don't seem to be interested. I hate them.
But I want to add something. I use WPA/WPA2 common mode as you know. And I can easily connect these wifi s. After I connect, I check the information about the network. (Intel connect tool) When I check I realize that even if the network WPA/WPA2, PC and the coonection tool says that security is WPA2 AES. So PC connect to network by WPA2. It can select WPA2 even if it is WPA/WPA2. Maybe it can help us I think.
And the second thing I want to say that after updated the driver to 17.1.0 I have some other problems. Actualy one. If I sleep the computer, after sleep wifi card cannot be detectable. It disappears. But only after sleep. I have to restart the PC. After restart everything is normal.
I very very thank you again. For your interest and hard work.
Have a nice day.

Hello alprkrkmz,
Based on my research just the Airties Air 5343 is a certified wireless adapter by WiFi Alliance so we are going to continue the troubleshooting with that model. Here you can refer to the certified devices by WiFi Alliance:
http://www.wi-fi.org/certified-products-results?cid=Airties http://www.wi-fi.org/certified-products-results?cid=Airties
I would like you to try deleting the wireless profile and create one manually. Here are the steps:
http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-025795.htm?wapkw=cs-025795 http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-025795.htm?wapkw=cs-025795
You previously mentioned there are some other devices connected to the LAN so what happens when you change the security on the router? You mentioned the wireless card was changed so was this happening with the previous wireless card?

Hi Kevin.
Thanks again for your wishes.
I have tried deleting and creating wireless profiles so many times. None of them works.
I have an iPad mini Samsung Galaxy s2, LG G2 and packard bell notebook with Atheros wireless card. All of them connected to the router with my Asus notebook with 7260n. When I change the security all of them connect again but Asus with 7260n cannot detect the router. I have sent the notebook to the customer service in Turkey. I showed them the video I recorded. I have talked to a technician at the end on the phone. He said that 'Yes you are right. I watched the video and I saw the problem. But I try with our routers (Asus routers) and I couldnt see a problem. I have tried with a new and same model notebook and it is the same. So we cannot help you.'' I think they are right because this is happening only with Airties modems. But they didnt help. But in case of a wireless card problem, they changed the card but it is same. And then in summer I replaced the card myself and bought a 7260ac card from ebay. But same again. So I decided that this a driver problem because it is happening with 8.1 drivers.
But maybe drivers are correct and modems or modems' firmwares are not suitable for the driver. And I sent an email to Airties but they didnt give an answer.
Thanks Kevin for your help. I decided not to buy an Airties modem again

Sorry for the inconvenience. Development is aware f this and I will send all feedback to them for future releases.
In the meantime I would recommend you keep using another router. My best recommendation is to check on WiFi Alliance page for certified products:
