Failed to Update - Intel® Connectivity Performance Suite v4.1025.325.6

On my brand new laptop I installed Intel Driver & Support Assistant in order to make sure everything was up to date. To my surprise I was unable to update the ICPS to the latest version. My Asus Vivobook S14 laptop came with v4.1024.730.4 installed. The rest of my laptop, including BIOS is up to date as far as I know, it's just ICPS that wont install.

Of note, in Device Manager under Software Components I have two entries for Intel(R) Connectivity Performance Suite. I would guess one is enough. They both show the same version. Not sure if it's okay to just remove one of them or not.

I have rebooted my laptop.

I have reinstalled IDSA.

The picture below says:
The program functions you chose, has been installed.
Package ICPS-operation is complete.
The dialogue says:
Installation of ICPS seems to have failed. Do you want to continue the installation?

Upon pressing yes, I get the following window:
InstallShield-guider has been installed Intel Connectivity Performance Suite. Click Finish to close the guide.
Screenshot 2025-05-23 134759.png

Yet the ICPS has not updated..

The steps above sadly did not help.
However when looking at the installed apps I did find that I had both version 40.24.10144 and version 40.25.2228 installed.
It seems as if version 40.25.2228 came preinstalled on the laptop, however it was not functioning. After uninstalling both versions, restarting and installing version 40.25.2228 manually again it worked.

Hello OleBinders,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

For me to address this properly, please share the information below.

1. Why are you installing ICPS? Is there a particular reason?

2. What is the full model of the laptop? If possible, kindly share the link.

3. Have you verified if your system supports the Intel® Evo™ or Intel® vPro platform?

4. Are you experiencing any connectivity issues?

5. Have you tried the previous driver version for testing? You can find it here

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards

Hi Jed,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

  1. When I installed Intel Driver & Support Assistant this software tried installing ICPS. I don't really know if I actually need it.
    1. My assumption was that since it shows up as a required update on the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA?) page it would be a security risk not to install it. However if not having this software installed does not pose a security risk then I'd be happy enough removing the files.
  2. Asus Vivobook S S5406SA - asus.com
    1. With Intel Core Ultra 5 228V & Arc 130V
  3. Well the sticker on the laptop does say evo edition so I'd guess so.
  4. Once it did not detect any WiFi in the area, after a reboot that resolved itself.
  5. Tried installing version 40.24.10144 from the website you gave me. That one did work.
    1. After installing this version I tried using the IDSA to update the software to no avail.

See appended the file from SSU

Hello OleBinders,

Thank you for sharing all this information.

For further troubleshooting, please try to follow the steps outlined below.

  1. Uninstall the Intel® DSA using Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Uninstaller.

2. Check the Intel® Connectivity Performance Suite System Compatibility

3. Install the latest version of Intel® Connectivity Performance Suite manually.

Before installing via Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA):

  1. Refer to What Operating Systems and Languages Does Intel® DSA Support?
  2. Install the latest version of Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA)
  3. Restart the computer.
